The Motif of Rescue and Liberation

Yahweh is portrayed in the history of Israel has their rescuer and liberator. This idea of rescuing and liberating has an underlying soteriological theme. This idea of redemption starts with one single nation Israel and gradually develops to a theme of redemption beginning with Israel and moving out to other nations.  Here Yahweh is portrayed as the redeemer of the nations and Israel as His chosen instrument.
